Wow. It's been quite a while since I posted last. Well, we've been underway since January 13th out on the Mighty Carl Vinson. We just finished up a port visit in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. It's quite different than I expected. Very nice, though. I was able to go snorkeling in a small bay that used to be a volcano once upon a time. Then I went over to the Arizona Memorial. Really puts things in perspective when you go over there. Hard to believe that 6 feet below the surface there are 1100 sailors that died when their ship was bombed. I can't imagine what the sailors went through that weren't killed in the blast. Trapped in their spaces in the aft part of the ship with no way out. I wonder if they wrote quick letters to loved ones like some of the sailors did on that Russian sub that sank. I guess we will never know.
I'm looking forward to our next port visit wherever that may be. I'm hoping that it is Bremerton. Only time will tell.
