Ok. I went to the Guitar Center in Tukwila today and played this guitar.
Martin DCX1E

It had a really nice unplugged sound and a fabulous plugged in sound. The only problem was that it was the only one at that store and it had some cosmetic blemishes on the sitka spruce top. Had it not been for the flaws, I would be enjoying that wonderful "Martin sound" in my house right now instead of blogging about it. Oh well. Maybe next time. I called the Guitar Center in Tacoma but they don't have any of that line of guitars in stock. Supposed to be getting some in this coming week.

I also wouldn't mind having this one, either. It's the same but with the fake Koa wood instead of the fake Mahogany.

And if you're here because of Nannette's blog entry today, I have one thing to say...

PFTFPTHFTPFHPHFPTHFTHFFHTTPPPPP!!!!!

Or however you spell the act of sticking your tongue out and blowing air to make a fart sound. LOL.

What that is all about is that I was contemplating a repair of my Guild D25-12 guitar. The bridge has started to come up and the spruce top has started to "belly up" due to the high heat and humidity that it experienced while I was over in the Persian Gulf earlier this year while onboard USS Carl Vinson. The repair is made using a thing called a "Bridge Doctor" available here. The problem is that I was trying to fashion one of these devices on my own after seeing one installed in a guitar at the Guitar Center and reading installation instructions on the manufacturer website. Nannette thinks that I should wait until I get a little "experience" at guitar repair before attempting the repair myself. I have decided to postpone doing the repair for that reason plus one other... So, fear not... I will not be attempting this repair by myself anytime soon. Maybe in the spring if I can work under John Thayer whose luthier shop is over in East Bremerton.

Have a great day out there.
